Pakistan Aerospace Council (PAeC) Joins Forces to Celebrate 70 Years of CERN and 30 Years of Collaboration

Taxila, June 25, 2024 – The Pakistan Aerospace Council (PAeC) proudly joined the “CERN 70 and Pakistan” event, which featured seminars and an engineering exhibition to celebrate 70 years of CERN’s pioneering work and 30 years of fruitful Pak-CERN collaboration. The event, held at Heavy Mechanical Complex 3 (HMC-3) in Taxila, was a vibrant gathering of scientific minds and industry leaders.

Leading the PAeC delegation was President Dr. Haroon Qureshi, accompanied by Secretary General Mr. Asif Jah, Dr. Javaid Ahsa Bhatti, and Mr. Kamran Rashied, Secretary of PAeC. They were joined by prominent figures such as Mr. Asim Qadri General Secretary of Pakistan Foundry Association and CEO of Qadri Group, along with Mr. Faisal Saleem, Head of Commercial, and Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Gohar, Head of Project  traveled all the way from Lahore to attend this significant event.

The chief guests and guests of honor included Dr. Luciano Musa, CERN 70 Project Leader and Former Spokesperson of the ALICE Collaboration, Former Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Mr. Pervez Butt, Mr. Kaleem Haider, Member Engineering, and Dr. Luca Malgeri, CERN Senior Researcher. Their presence added immense value to the event.

As an Associate Member of CERN, Pakistan is also celebrating several CERN 70 events within the country. An exhibition was organized to highlight Pakistan’s contributions to engineering projects at CERN, showcasing the nation’s significant role in global scientific advancements.

The event concluded with insightful visits to HMC facilities, including the Machining, Welding, Quality Assurance & Control, Design, EQTF, and Electrical,  showcasing their technological capabilities and innovations at HMC-3.

The celebration was not just a nod to past achievements but also a springboard for future collaborations. PAeC is eager to explore new partnership opportunities for its members, leveraging the synergy and innovation fostered at such esteemed gatherings.
