Pakistan Aerospace Council (PAeC) organized an event to host European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in collaboration with National Centre for Physics (NCP) on 21st May 2019. Event was held at National Centre for Physics and attended by CERN team members including Dr. Anders Unnervik head of procurement CERN and more than 25 high tech manufacturing companies from Pakistan attended the event.

Mr. Imtiaz Rastgar convener of Pakistan Aerospace Council was the keynote speaker for this event. He shared his experience with CERN and how he invited them to visit Pakistan and interact with the private industry of Pakistan. He also stressed on the need of shift of Pakistan from the cotton export industry to high tech export industry. Mr. Imtiaz Rastgar also urged the high tech companies to work in collaboration with one another to fill the gap between potential and performance of high tech industry.

Seventeen companies from PAeC platform presented their profile, capabilities, skills, expertise, products and their export potential with the CERN members. Many companies shared their info with each other for potential collaborations/partnership. Some companies displayed their products stalls which were highly appreciated by the CERN members and other industrialists.

Mr. Anders Unnervik gave a presentation on, “How to business with CERN”. In which he explained the whole process of bidding and how they give contracts to companies. He also explained the need for resources and equipment for future projects and the products Pakistan has been providing them in the past. While Dr. Francisco Sanchez Galan briefed the participants about High luminous-Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) project. He shared the timeline and materials and resources required for that.

This event will boost the CERN’s confidence about Pakistan high tech manufacturing industry and will enhance the collaboration opportunities with CERN and other foreign countries.
